Author profile: Adam Gerval and Mark Henderson

Adam Gerval is an Economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He serves as an analyst researching macroeconomic trends in Asian markets, including East Asian nations (i.e. Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan), in addition to emerging economies in Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. He has received Master’s degrees in economics and international studies from George Washington University and The Ohio State University.

Mark Henderson is currently a Presidential Management Fellow for the U.S. Department of State. He is serving in the role of Foreign Affairs Officer in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Office of Taiwan Coordination. He received his PhD at the National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei, Taiwan, where he focused on topics in political economy in the Asia Pacific region, specifically related to international economic development through local government policy. Previously, he served for several years as an International Relations Specialist for the International Relations Office at the City of San Antonio in Texas.
