Afyare Abdi Elmi is an assistant professor of international politics at the Qatar University’s International Affairs Department. He is the author of “Understanding the Somalia Conflagration: Identity, Political Islam and Peacebuilding”. Dr. Elmi has provided comments to the major media outlets including the New York Times and Al-Jazeera English Channel. He has also published articles on the International Herald Tribune, the Boston Globe, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, the Edmonton Journal and Al-Jazeera Online. Dr. Elmi is currently working on two research projects that relate to the Horn of Africa: Constitutional Development of Somalia; and the causes and consequences of piracy in the Horn of Africa.
