Author profile: An Jacobs and Norma Rossi

An Jacobs has studied and lectured in Maastricht, and completed her PhD on the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy in Manchester. Before joining Sandhurst, she was a Political Adviser for the EU Rule of Law Mission EULEX in Kosovo for two years. She has expanded her expertise on Security Sector Reform through fieldwork in Ukraine, DR Congo, Burundi and Uganda. Her research interests furthermore include institutional change, military education, African security issues, and post-conflict reconstruction. She has recently joined the editorial board of Parameters, the US Army War College Quarterly.

 

Norma Rossi studied in Rome and Paris, and received her PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Reading on an Earhart Foundation fellowship. She has worked on state-building processes and has acquired specific expertise on the role of transnational non-state actors, and the link between organised crime groups and state-building processes. She has also written on the politics of anxiety with a particular attention to the relation between the far right and neoliberal politics in Italy. Since completing her PhD, she has broadened her research interests to include security sector reform and the role of education in conflict-affected environments.
