David Bailey is a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Studies, University of Birmingham. His teaching and research focuses on left parties, protest movements, and the critical and comparative political economy of the European Union. His work has been published in a number of journals, including Socio-Economic Review, New Political Economy, and Journal of Common Market Studies. He published The Political Economy of European Social Democracy: A Critical Realist Approach with Routledge in 2009 and co-edited European Social Democracy During the Global Economic Crisis: Renovation or Resignation? (Manchester University Press, 2014). He is also reviews editor for Comparative European Politics and Capital and Class. He is currently working on a co-authored book, with Mònica Clua-Losada and Nikolai Huke, Beyond Failure: Disrupting (the critical political economy of) neoliberal Europe (under contract with Routledge/RIPE Global Political Economy series).
