Author profile: Elisabeth Winter

Elisabeth Winter is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies, a joint program by Freie Universität Berlin, WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and Hertie School of Governance. In her dissertation, she examines how the United States and China use networks of deep free trade agreements as geoeconomic instruments. Her related research interests are transatlantic relations, US foreign trade policy, and the role of the United States in International Organizations. After finishing a BA in International Socio-Economics, Elisabeth graduated in North American Studies from Freie Universität Berlin, specializing in US foreign politics and economics. Elisabeth has held visiting positions at Georgetown University and the Bertelsmann Foundation in Washington, DC. In the upcoming months, Elisabeth will be at the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton University, followed by a transatlantic research fellowship at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg.
