Author profile: Joseph E. Schwartzberg

A lifelong peace and justice activist, Professor Joseph E. Schwartzberg has served in leadership roles in many organizations, especially in those related to world federalism. He was one of the founders in 1995 of the Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers. After obtaining his PhD, he taught at the University of Pennsylvania (1960-64) and the University of Minnesota (1964-2000). A prolific author, his academic specialties were in South Asia and political geography. Professor Schwartzberg (schwa004@umn.edu) will welcome responses from readers to the accompanying essay.
