Author profile: Lorraine Grimes

Lorraine Grimes is an activist in the West of Ireland. She has been a member of a number of pro-choice groups over the last four years. She was Co-Secretary of Galway Together for Yes, the national campaign advocating for a Yes vote in Galway County during the 2018 referendum. She is also currently doing a PhD at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Her research focuses on the historical migration of Irish single expectant women to Britain. Her thesis is entitled ‘Migration and Assistance: Irish Unmarried Mothers in Britain 1926-1979’. She is also a member of Abortion Access Campaign West, a women’s collective in the west of Ireland focusing on securing access to abortion for all women, particularly marginalised women, in the west of Ireland.
