Author profile: Lucia Sorbera

Lucia Sorbera is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Arabic Language and Cultures and Kathleen Fitzpatrick Research Fellow in the Laureate Program in International History at the University of Sydney. Her main area of research expertise focuses on women and gender in Egyptian cultural and political history. She has recently published in Global Discourse: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Current Affairs and Applied Contemporary Thought (2016); Post-Colonial Studies (2014) and Genesis, The Journal of the Italian Society of Women’s Historians (2013). In 2015 she curated the Arab Women Film Festival at the University of Sydney. Since 2016 she has been a guest curator with Paola Caridi of Arab Souls, a program focusing on Arab Literature and Cultures at the International Torino Book Fair.
