Meenakshi Gigi Durham is professor and Collegiate Scholar in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa in the U.S. She has published extensively in the area of feminist media studies. She is the author of The Lolita Effect and the co-editor of Media and Cultural Studies: KeyWorks. Her recent journal articles include “Vicious assault shakes Texas town: The politics of gender violence in The New York Times’ coverage of a schoolgirl’s gang rape” and “Scene of the crime: News discourse of rape in India and the geopolitics of sexual assault”.
