Norman Manea is a Romanian writer, living in New York City, who has published novels, essays, and short prose in 23 languages. He is Francis Flournoy Professor of European Studies and Culture and writer in residence at Bard College, New York State. He received many prestigious international literary prizes and was several times candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature.
