Panagoula (Youly) Diamanti-Karanou is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Northeastern University. Her dissertation studies the relationship of homelands and diasporas, focusing on the case-study of the relationship of the Greek state with the Greek-American community. Among the issues studied are educational and cultural diaspora policies, foreign policy and the diaspora, and diasporic identities. Her academic interests lie in the study of national identity and nationalism, ethnic conflict and conflict resolution, public diplomacy, public policy (primarily educational policy and environmental health policy), women and international security and political motherhood.
